Experiences with vistaril

Also known as phenergan and hydroxyzine. On the market as an antiemetic, but often used in our area as a mild, cheap, non-addictive antianxiety med. Best prescribed, like many meds, on a regular schedule as not powerful or fast enough once a panic attack gets rolling. Please I'd like to hear about experiences with this drug, positive and negative.

Iv used it for YEARS for allergy reactions....my mother used to sneak it into my food if I hadnt slept for a week or more and was looking run down and it would make me sleep for 24 hours or more its been a very long time since it has knocked me out like that but I still use it for allergic reactions it is very effective

here you can buy it over the counter although they get suspicious if you buy alot at once....my mother used to tell sob stories that we needed it for while we were on trips etc in order to get hold of 5-6 packets at once

Just wondering it shouldnt clash with the tramadol will it? iv told him im taking it and he hadn't said anything, the hospital had advised it when I had the allergic reaction to the rug too and they knew I was taking tramadol

im taking about 50 mg a night at the moment but thats what the pack says to do 1-3 tablets at night......first time iv ever seen THAT direction on the pack.....

previously directions on the pack are 10-25 mg every 3 hours but eh its working and im sleeping kind of and my asthma is settling still getting junk off my chest but from experience that will last for a long while

done alot for the anxiety too

I've never seen them clash. The 10-25 every three is for allergy and hives. The 50 to 150 is for the sleep side effect. It's a safe medicine with a wide dosage range. The occasional adult and child get a "paradoxical" reaction and don't sleep for a day- ever seen a 4 year old do this with cold medicine? So like all meds it's not for all and sundry. Glad it works for you.

    thanks

I think the difference its making for me is enabling sleep the sedative effect is alot less than it used to be but at least I know im taking no where near a dangerous amount of it and its keeping my allergies at bay which can disturb sleep terribly also
